Text-based MMO RPG set in Norse Mythology, with over 3 million players.
With hundreds of adventures and thousands of achievements, this game has built a dedicated following, some of whom have been playing for over a decade. With weekly content updates, much of the UI and UX work supports existing features via LiveOps, with steady improvements to the player experience.
New features begin their life in the form of a document outlining the objectives and content from a user-centric point of view. User flows and wireflows translate these ideas into tangible representations of that design. In addition to uncovering potential friction points for the user, these visuals help to ensure everybody is on the same page during stakeholder discussions.
Wireframes build upon the approved user flow by providing low-fidelity designs where various layout options can be explored with relatively low overhead, allowing for rapid iteration based on feedback from other members of the team.
Hi-fidelity mockups are created for both desktop and mobile versions of the game, using the same design process for all new features. Existing content is populated from a library of assets, while new content is created and imported into Figma.
Interactive prototypes can be made from these mockups, allowing for interactions to be modelled and animated. These provide a 1:1 preview of how a new feature will look and feel, and remove any guesswork from the development team while implementing a new feature.
Bespoke assets are created in Photoshop and imported into Figma for use in high-fidelity mockups and prototypes. Once approved, all new assets are handed off to the development team, with guidelines for implementation as needed.
